O Transtorno do Espectro Autista (TEA) é uma condição neurológica que afeta o desenvolvimento da comunicação, socialização e comportamento, podendo influenciar o relacionamento da criança com a alimentação. Muitas crianças autistas apresentam seletividade alimentar, ou seja, preferências restritas em relação aos alimentos consumidos. Além disso, elas podem ser hiper ou hiporreativas a estímulos sensoriais relacionados à comida, influenciando sua capacidade de experimentar e tolerar diferentes alimentos. Uma abordagem individualizada e adaptada, considerando preferências sensoriais, rotinas, habilidades de comunicação e necessidades nutricionais, é essencial para que crianças autistas tenham uma dieta adequada e saudável. Portanto, o tratamento envolve atividades recreativas, uma equipe multidisciplinar e a cooperação dos pais.
